Continually Shaken
Written and performed by Luke

Hard-earned pay does always seem to slip right through the fingers.
Prodded to pursue a scheme devised by by-gone singers.
Through lonely days and nights a dream continually lingers.

What's missin' from a lonely life that others are possessin'?
Why can't he lay on child and wife a father's gift and blessin'?
What frees a lonely soul from strife continually pressin'?

What fate awaits a lonely man reaching for the rainbow's end?
What lesson others understand that he can't comprehend?

Just when he seems to get ahead, he's grossly overtaken
By some misfortune that he dreads, of which he was mistaken.
The path on which he lightly tread's continually shaken.

Sometimes seems that other men have blessings by the minute;
They bet against the odds and then, they always seem to win it.

Just when the dream is comin' true, it's time for him to waken.
To do what ev'ry man must do, the dream must be forsaken
For fate that makes a life so blue, continually shaken.
